Julie Evans

As director of the company, Julie and the team of designers aim to provide results that encapsulate their client’s needs and desires, ensuring well built, functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces.
With an in-depth knowledge of regulatory procedures, Julie can offer sound and timely information, working as an intermediary for the client with governing bodies, consultants and contractors.
Julie is passionate about designing spaces that are inspired by the environment & location. She loves to design spaces people enjoy to live in and is excited to be designing better housing for modern New Zealanders.
Susi Thomson
Director/Operations Manager
Originally from South Africa, Susi and her family arrived in New Zealand in July 2019 and, in September of that year, she started at Alliance Architecture as an Architectural Technician. She worked hard to learn the NZ building regulations, NZ building code and our specific town planning rules.
Susi’s earlier career as a Chemist followed by her architectural training and over 12 years of experience in the field, she has added significant design, technical and analytical skills to the company. Coupled with her personal discipline and dedication, she quickly catapulted into a management role.
In January 2022, Susi joined Julie as a Co-Director of Alliance Architecture and is continuously striving to perform her role as Operations Manager to an excellent standard, engaging and assisting the team to ensure the architectural drawings and documentation deliverables are a quality product, on time and to a very high standard.
Umut Kokcu
Architectural Technician
Umut grew up in Auckland and was drawn to sketching and design from an early age, naturally steering him toward a career in architecture. He honed his skills through a Bachelor’s at Unitec Institute of Technology and a Master’s at the University of Auckland.
Over the past five years with the Alliance team, he has worked on a diverse range of projects from small-scale alterations to ambitious new builds, always approaching each stage with precision and creativity.
Passionate about all things visual, he also explores architectural visualization and photography in his creative pursuits.
Diki Khadka
Architectural Technician
Diki moved to New Zealand from Nepal in 2005, where the contrast in landscapes and architecture sparked his curiosity and interest in the built environment. This passion led him to pursue a Bachelor of Architecture at Unitec Institute of Technology, followed by a Master of Architecture (Prof) from the University of Auckland graduating in 2020.
Since joining Alliance Architecture, Diki has gained valuable experience in various aspects of the building industry, working closely with local council authorities, site inspectors, engineers, and town planners. His involvement spans a wide range of residential projects, from minor alterations and additions to new builds and multi-unit terrace developments.
With a strong foundation in both design and technical detailing, he is committed to contributing to well-designed and functional architectural solutions that align with clients’ needs and project requirements.
“Dealing with Julie and her staff has been a pleasure. She listened to what we required and produced everything we needed with no hassle. It was a compliment to have Alliance Architecture work with our builders and have our re-cladding job done efficiently and quickly.”
